Fire brigades from Vaals (NL) and Laurensberg (DE) train together
On June 6, the fire brigades of Vaals and Laurensberg held another joint exercise. The training once again highlighted the importance of smooth cross-border cooperation.
Within EMRIC, effective cross-border cooperation is fundamental. When every second counts, it is crucial to know who your colleagues are on the other side of the border. The fire departments of Vaals and Laurensberg have been aware of this for years. They organize a joint exercise almost every year—and on June 6, it was time again!
The scenario took place in the old police station, which was transformed into a densely populated apartment building for the occasion. A fire broke out on the second floor, with several people missing. The fire departments from Vaals and Laurensberg worked together to rescue the victims and bring the fire under control. Afterwards, colleagues from Vaals gave an explanation of how the BOH (Basic Disinfection Hook Arm Container) works, after which the evening ended with a pleasant get-together at the fire station in Laurensberg.
A special edition is planned for next year: the two neighboring fire departments will be training together for the thirtieth time.
