Disasters and major accidents sometimes require more resources than the impacted region has. In such cases, it is customary for neighboring regions to provide additional assistance. As a result of the EMRIC agreements, the emergency response capacities are many times greater. After all, in EMRIC's working area, the foreign neighboring regions are often closer and faster on site than the domestic services. This applies particularly to Zuid-Limburg, which shares only 4.8 kilometers of border with Midden-Limburg.
The EMRIC cooperation arranges that assistance can be requested from foreign neighboring regions and that victims are transported without delay to their own or foreign hospitals to receive the best possible and fastest care. Safety services in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion also call on each other for specific requests for help: more submersible pumps needed in case of floods, a tool needed that they do not have themselves, sandbags... Good neighbors help each other!
The services and dispatch rooms communicate frequently and work together on a daily basis so that they can function smoothly in the event of disasters or major accidents. Thanks to EMRIC people know each other and each other's working methods.
