Following the signing of the agreements between the fire departments, joint exercises were carried out in the Belgian-German border area on October 16. The fire departments of the HLZ DG, Zone WAL and the Monschau-Kalterherberg fire department held an exercise in Elsenborn. 70 participants took part. There were many learning effects and positive feedback: “Signatures on contracts make EMRIC possible. Exercises bring EMRIC to life.”
The exercise leader was also pleased: “We could see competent and highly motivated personnel on site. An exercise like this is a valuable opportunity for everyone involved to exchange information about the resources and tactics of the neighboring forces and to learn from each other. This gives me confidence that a real cross-border operation can be carried out professionally.” The evaluation of the exercise is discussed in our EMRIC groups and provides valuable input for the further development and improvement of our assistance concepts.
